EEW Energy from Waste Hannover.

Our Plant.
In order to best utilise the energy potential of waste where it is generated, the state capital Hannover decided to construct the waste recovery centre in Hannover-Lahe. EEW’s thermal waste treatment plant and the mechanical biological treatment (MBT) plant of the aha Zweckverband Abfallwirtschaft Region Hannover were commissioned in January 2005. Currently, 195,000 megawatt hours of electricity are generated here each year, corresponding to the energy needs of around 56,000 households in the region. To generate this energy, in a low-emission process the plant can safely recover up to 280,000 tonnes of different waste fractions as well as commercial waste from the Hannover region, the district of Hildesheim and the Celle waste management association.
In view of the current situation with regard to the corona virus (SARS-CoV-2), until further notice there will be no tours for visitor groups at the EEW locations in Germany, Luxembourg and The Netherlands. This is purely a precautionary measure in the interests of our employees and visitors.
Up-to-date information on the corona virus (SARS-CoV-2) with instructions for visitors and customers at the EEW locations in Germany, Luxembourg and The Netherlands can be found here.
