EEW Energy from Waste Helmstedt.

Our Plant.
Helmstedt has a long tradition in electricity generation for the past 100 years. Since 1998, waste has also been used to generate energy here, and the TRV Buschhaus energy from waste plant is now one of the largest in Germany. Here at the Helmstedt site, we generate around 283,000 megawatt hours of electricity, equivalent to the power needed by approximately 81,000 households in the region. But that is by no means all: We also provide reliable waste management capacity for eight neighbouring districts, and industrial and private partners deliver their residual waste to our EEW plant. Thanks to the good transport links, up to 525,000 tonnes of waste per year can be quickly and smoothly delivered to the plant, where it is safely recovered in a low-emission process.
In view of the current situation with regard to the corona virus (SARS-CoV-2), until further notice there will be no tours for visitor groups at the EEW locations in Germany, Luxembourg and The Netherlands. This is purely a precautionary measure in the interests of our employees and visitors.
Up-to-date information on the corona virus (SARS-CoV-2) with instructions for visitors and customers at the EEW locations in Germany, Luxembourg and The Netherlands can be found here.
