It replaces the previous Green Financing Framework issued in 2021 and fully complies with the requirements of the current ICMA 2025 Green Bond Principles and the LMA Green Loan Principles, while also demonstrating the alignment of key activities with the EU Taxonomy Regulation and the EU Green Bond Standard.
With the updated Green Financing Framework, EEW consistently aligns itself with the highest standards of transparency and reporting. It forms the basis for implementing the company’s strategy and for the long-term financing of the required investments. At the same time, the Framework strengthens the connection between sustainability strategy, investment logic, and financing, while creating a structured foundation for the use of a wide range of financing instruments.
“Transforming critical infrastructure requires not only technology, but also suitable financing structures. With the Green Financing Framework, we are creating transparency regarding how sustainable investments can be classified and financed in the future,” says Stefan Schmidt, CFO of the EEW Group.
Focus on energy, circular economy, and transformation
The Green Financing Framework includes investments in EEW’s key future-oriented business areas. These include projects and measures to increase energy efficiency, heat and energy supply, battery and storage solutions, the recovery of valuable materials and phosphorus, carbon capture technologies, sustainable buildings, and charging infrastructure for electric mobility.
Although thermal waste recovery is currently not yet fully reflected as a standalone activity within the EU Taxonomy, EEW pursues a transparent approach to the classification of relevant investments — particularly in the areas of waste heat utilization, renewable energy technologies, and circular economy.
Independent assessment through Second Party Opinion
ISS-Corporate has prepared the SPO. It confirms the high quality of the Framework, certifies its compliance with ICMA and LMA market standards, and confirms the alignment of key activities with the EU Taxonomy.
