Timo Poppe

Chief Executive Officer

Timo Poppe grew up in Wildeshausen, Germany. After training as an industrial clerk, he completed his studies with a degree in industrial engineering from the private university PHWT in Vechta/Diepholz. He then joined utility group EWE AG, where he worked in the sales department until 2007 prior to becoming assistant to the CEO (until the end of 2008) and head of the executive office department (until mid-2009).

In August 2009, Timo Poppe moved to the corporate development department of EWE AG, which he led as authorised officer until mid-2012. In August 2012, he was appointed chief representative for infrastructure at EWE AG and board member responsible for grids at swb AG (Stadtwerke Bremen). In these roles, he was responsible for the network businesses with the divisions electricity, broadband, drinking water, wastewater and natural gas. From 2015, Timo Poppe was head of the finance and infrastructure departments at swb AG. After leaving swb AG in 2021, with Palladio Partners he co-founded Palladio Kommunal GmbH, a boutique investment firm focusing on the infrastructure of municipally owned companies, in particular municipal utilities. As of 1 July 2023, Timo Poppe is CEO of EEW Energy from Waste GmbH.

In addition to the abovementioned roles, Timo Poppe has also served as supervisory board chairman for several companies in the energy and water sectors. At the German Association of Local Public Utilities (Verband kommunaler Unternehmen, VKU), he served as chairman of the digitalisation committee and as a board member. Moreover, he is an auditor and member of the decision-making body at the German Maritime Search and Rescue Service (DGzRS). Timo Poppe is married and has two children.

Dr. Joachim Manns

COO

Dr Joachim Manns was born in Bitburg, Germany. After studying physics at the University of Bonn and subsequently obtaining his doctorate, in 1996 he joined the company Steag AG in Essen as a project manager for international projects.

Three years later, Dr Manns accepted the positions of authorised officer and project director at Vasa Energy GmbH & Co KG / Concord Power GmbH in 1999.

In 2003, he joined the staff of the board of management of EnBW Kraftwerke AG as coordinator of power plants. He later held other positions within that company, including head of technology and innovation management, head of the new-build projects division and plant manager of the Rheinhafen steam power plant in Karlsruhe.

In 2015, Dr Mann was appointed to the management board of MVV Umwelt GmbH in Mannheim.

Since 1 October 2020, Dr Joachim Manns has been a member of Board of Management of EEW Energy from Waste GmbH. He is also Chief Operating Officer (COO) with responsibility for technology.

Stefan Schmidt

CFO

Stefan Schmidt’s professional career began in 1994 with his training as a banker with Deutsche Bank and completing a degree in business administration at the University of Cologne. Stefan Schmidt is a qualified tax adviser and auditor.

From 1999 to 2005 he worked in the field of auditing and audit-related consulting with the international auditing firm EY. After redirecting his career toward industrial finance and joining Schwarz Beteiligungs- und Finanz GmbH in 2005, he took on the management of that company’s international accounting department. His next position was head of Finance & Tax at Linde Kältetechnik GmbH in Cologne.

In 2008, Stefan Schmidt accepted a management position at OXEA Holding GmbH (OXEA Group) as Director of Finance and Administration. In 2010 he also took over the Global Controlling unit and was appointed Senior Vice President Finance & Controlling in 2013. In 2015, he was appointed Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and in 2016 he became the CEO of OXEA Group (OQ Chemicals Group) until he left the company in December 2023. From 2019 to 2021, Stefan Schmidt shared the role of Value Partner/Chief Financial Officer, Downstream Unit (Refineries & Petrochemicals) within the parent company Oman Oil Company S.A.O.C. (OQ Group) in Muscat, Oman.

Since 1 March 2024, Stefan Schmidt has been a member of the management board of EEW Energy from Waste as CFO. At the same time, he is responsible for the Finance Department.
