Reporting & rating

Providing insights and demonstrating progress

At EEW, sustainability is not only planned – it is lived and made tangible. Our reporting ensures transparency, highlights developments, and clearly shows how we document responsibility and continuously drive progress.

Sustainability standards

Reliable foundations for credible action

In our sustainability reporting, we take into account internationally recognised standards and frameworks. The focus is on the Sustainability Reporting Standards (SRS) of the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) - GRI Standards for short - and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the United Nations.

The GRI standards serve to ensure the international comparability of non-financial information published by organisations as part of their corporate reporting. With the help of the GRI standards, organisations report on relevant economic, environmental and social impacts related to their own business activities. The published information is used by different stakeholders to assess the sustainability performance of the reporting organisation or to compare the performance of different organisations.

The Sustainable Development Goals are an essential component of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, which was adopted by the member states of the United Nations in 2015. The goals are intended to lead to more environmental and climate protection, prosperity, social justice, self-determination and peace worldwide by 2030.

The SDGs are divided into 17 goals with a total of 169 sub-goals. We have analysed which of the 17 SDGs are of particular relevance to our business activities and what contribution we make to achieving these goals.

Transparency and progress along our sustainability path

Sustainability is becoming increasingly important in society and the economy. Sustainable action – especially demonstrable action – is a central factor for companies today. For EEW, it has therefore long been part of our core business and an integral part of our corporate strategy. At EEW, we see it as our responsibility to align economic success with social and environmental objectives – and to communicate this commitment transparently both within the company and to the public. As part of the circular economy and a key contributor to climate policy, EEW has been publishing a sustainability report for several years. This report documents our Group’s efforts in the field of sustainability and highlights the progress we have already achieved.

Our 2024 Sustainability Report has been awarded the highest rating of 'Excellence' in the 2025 ESG Transparency Award by EUPD Research. With an overall score of 87.21%, we are one of the most transparent and highest-quality sustainability reporters in Europe.

ESG ratings

Independent ESG ratings enhance the comparability of corporate sustainability performance – and serve as an important management tool for our ongoing development.

Until 2024, EEW was assessed by the rating agency Morningstar Sustainalytics. The most recent ESG Risk Rating stood at 20.8 points, reflecting continuous improvement over the years.

Since 2025, EEW has been evaluated by ISS ESG. In June 2025, the company was awarded Prime status for the first time. With a rating of B‑, EEW ranks among the top 25% of companies in the “Multi Utilities” peer group.

The ongoing development of our ESG performance reflects our strong commitment to responsible corporate governance and sustainable value creation.
