We report regularly on our sustainability performance to provide a clear picture of developments, progress and conflicting priorities within our business operations. Our aim is not merely to provide information, but to establish a sound basis for decision-making – both internally and externally.
Why we report
For us, sustainability reporting is a management tool.
It helps us to:
- systematically identify our key issues
- measure our progress
- make more informed decisions
As such, the report is not merely a review of the past, but an integral part of our ongoing development.
How we report
Our sustainability report is based on the European Sustainability Reporting Standards (ESRS). We structure our content around:
- The impact of our business on the environment and society
- Risks and opportunities for our company
In doing so, we link targets, measures and key performance indicators. This results in reporting that highlights interconnections rather than merely providing isolated pieces of information.
Our 2024 Sustainability Report was awarded the ‘Excellence’ rating at the 2025 ESG Transparency Award organised by EUPD Research. The award recognises the transparency and quality of our reporting.
Our Reports
ESG Ratings
Our sustainability performance is also assessed by external ESG ratings. These ratings provide a basis for comparison for investors and complement our own reporting by offering an external perspective. At the same time, they take into account different methodological approaches and do not replace our own analysis and management.
Until 2024, EEW was assessed by the rating agency Morningstar Sustainalytics. The most recently published ESG Risk Rating stood at 20.8 points and has improved steadily over the years.
Since 2025, the assessment has been carried out by ISS ESG. In June 2025, EEW was awarded Prime Status for the first time. With a rating of B-, the company ranks among the top 25% of the industry in the ‘Multi Utilities’ peer group.
The development of our ESG ratings shows that our sustainability performance is also steadily improving from an external perspective.
