Responsible corporate governance

At EEW, we take on responsibility for our actions. Legally compliant conduct as well as acting with integrity and responsibility are integral elements of our business activities and a key prerequisite for sustainably safeguarding our company’s success. Our primary goal is to avoid risks that could damage the trust that our customers, business partners, employees and the public have in our company.

To ensure compliance, i.e., adherence to statutory regulations and internal corporate rules, we have established a Compliance Management System, including instruments and measures to provide orientation. Our Code of Conduct, our Policy Statement and our Supplier Code of Conduct contain binding rules that help our employees to act in a compliant manner.

Whistle-blower system

To report infringements of laws and rules, we have established a whistle-blower system, which can be used by our employees as well as third parties.

Tips about breaches of the law, especially economic crimes (e.g., fraud, corruption, breach of trust) and reports of human rights abuses (e.g., discrimination, occupational health and safety violations, child and forced labour) or environmental damage can be submitted to us in various ways. Our Rules of Procedure describe how we deal with incoming reports.

Rules of Procedure for whistle-blower system

No matter whether you are submitting tips to our whistle-blower system or looking for advice: Each concern will be handled jointly by our Compliance Officer and our Human Rights Officer and treated as strictly confidential – and you can remain anonymous if you wish.

To ensure that your report can be appropriately processed and investigated by our whistle-blower system, it is important that the report is as specific as possible. It is helpful if your submission answers the “Five Ws”: Who? What? When? Why? Where?

If you are submitting information, please ensure that your descriptions can also be understood by non-experts. Ideally, you will also be willing to answer further questions. When submitting a report, please be aware of your responsibility. Our whistle-blower system must not be used to denounce others. Therefore, please only submit information if you are convinced to the best of your knowledge and belief that the information is correct. Thank you for your support!

Principles of our conduct

The foundation for conducting business with compliance, responsibility and integrity is our corporate directives and the associated rules that are aligned with internationally applicable standards and current laws and regulations.

Our Code of Conduct lays down the overarching values which guide our behaviour: the free democratic basic order, human rights and fundamental rights. The Code is an overarching norm of behaviour and the main guidance for responsible conduct and decision-making by all employees in the company.

EEW's Code of Conduct

For us, respecting and upholding human rights is one of the foundations of lawful and responsible conduct, in accordance with Article 1 of the Basic Law for the Federal Republic of Germany. In accordance with the German Supply Chain Due Diligence Act (LkSG), we are committed to ensuring that our direct suppliers and business partners comply with human rights and environmental due diligence obligations. Our Policy Statement complements our existing corporate principles and directives and relates to our due diligence obligations with respect to the impact of our activities at all sites and in all business areas.

We are fully committed to legally compliant conduct and values-based corporate leadership. We expect this of ourselves as well as of our business partners.

Our Supplier Code of Conduct is an established component of invitations to tender and all contractual agreements. It lays out the social, environmental and governance standards that our suppliers and business partners must meet at a minimum.
