We turn waste into a resource
For EEW, sustainability means taking responsibility for the impact of our business – and managing it systematically.
As an operator of waste management and energy infrastructure, we handle non-recyclable waste safely and recover energy and recyclable materials from it. In doing so, we contribute to the circular economy and to energy supply. At the same time, our business model also involves environmental impacts and conflicting objectives, which we actively address.
Our understanding
At EEW, sustainability is not an afterthought, but an integral part of our corporate governance. We base our decisions on the key impacts, risks and opportunities associated with our business. Our aim is to enhance positive impacts, mitigate negative ones and, at the same time, ensure the long-term stability of our business model.
In doing so, we take an integrated approach:
- We consider environmental, social and governance aspects in context
- We systematically link targets, measures and key performance indicators
- We incorporate economic and regulatory conditions into our decisions
Our business involves areas of tension – for example, between waste disposal security, climate protection and economic efficiency. These conflicting objectives are part of our reality. We make them transparent and consciously take them into account in our strategic and operational management.
