For talented young employees and “old hands”
The MasterPassport programme is not only for shift managers and their deputies. It is also targeted at talented young employees as well as “old hands,” as Caterina Panzarino from EEW’s Human Resources department explains: “We are reaching out to aspiring managers, who will take over leadership positions in the future, as well as employees who have been with us for a long time and would like to ‘polish up’ their skills.”
The fact that the programme is tailored specifically to the needs of employees working at the plants is very well received by Marcel Kimmel, Team Lead, Work Preparation and Storage at the EEW site TRV Buschhaus: “I am very happy that there is now a further training programme specifically for those of us working in the plants.” Various criteria are considered when selecting participants – for example, generational transitions are also taken into account.
The first round – a great success
The first MasterPassport course with 26 participants was launched in 2023, beginning with a one-and-a-half-day kick-off event. Over the course of the year, participants then completed six modules, each lasting two days. A seventh module can be chosen individually to dive deeper into specific topics such as labour law, moderation or managing apprentices.
According to Caterina Panzarino, the results of the first run were exceptionally positive: “There was a very, very good mood among the first MasterPassport cohort. All participants recognised this was an excellent opportunity to gain further qualifications. With the MasterPassport, we are also coming closer to our goal of developing a common understanding of leadership at EEW.”
This is confirmed by Hikmet Taspinar, Power Plant Foreman and Shift Foreman at EEW’s Göppingen site, who found the course provided valuable insights: “The MasterPassport modules give us new insights into our own work and are simultaneously very helpful in daily life.”
